BJP worker, Lakhan Jarkiholi, the youngest among Jarkiholi brothers will contest to the Legislative Council election from Local Bodies from Belagavi as an Independent candidate.

The election is due following the term of current members BJP’s Mahantesh Kavatagimath and Congress’s Vivekrao Patil whose term over in the first week of December. BJP sources said Kavatagimath would be continued for another term, while Congress said to be field Channaraj Hattiholli the younger brother of Belagavi Rural Congress MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar. Noth the candidates win the election as their parties have required votes.

However, Lakhan”s entry may damage the calculation of both Congress and BJP as he has good term, contacts with both the parties. Lakhan was in Congress before the scandal of his elder brother Gokak MLA  Ramesh Jarkiholi and shifted to the saffon party. He is expected to file nomination papers on Nov 23. Election scheduled on Dec 10.
