Karnataka BJP government Minister for Women and Child Development, Shashikala Jolley’s alleged demand for bribe of Rs 1crore per month to allot tender to supply eggs to Anganwadi centers is expected to sweat her party high command as people not only taking her, government and the high command to task in social media with #ನುಂಗಬೇಡಿಮಕ್ಕಳಮೊಟ್ಟೆ (Don’t Swallow Children’ Egg) hash tag campaign commenting sharply. One of the twitter described government as “Egg Rice Government” which getting highest comments and hundreds commented against the minister.
As caught on tape in the “Sting Operation” of a Kannada news channel, the minister told to those approached her as they were from the egg supplying agency and meeting her to get the contract, she told them that earlier Anganwadis used to purchase eggs, now her department purchase and supply to the Anganwadi centers and assured them of giving them the contract and asked to contact Gangawati BJP MLA Paranna Munavalli. When the team met Munavalli he guaranteed of giving the order provided they must give Rs 1 crore to the minister and Rs 30 lakh to him every month. MLA Munavalli was also caught in tape.
A handle named “Professor” twitted “Stealing Rice from that side, stealing egg from this side. Its like a Egg Rice government”.
