Union Minister Rane Arrested for ‘Slapping’ Comment on Maharashtra CM

The Maharashtra police arrested Union Minister, Maharashtra leader Narayan Rane at Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra on Tuesday, Aug 24. Rane was taken into the custody when he was having lunch arranged at BJP’s “Janashirwada” procession at the district.

 

Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray while addressing the state, after hoisting flag at Mumbai on Independence day, had make known the year when the nation got independence, from a person on the dias. Taking-up the matter, Rane reportedly
said “It was an insult that a CM do not know the year of the country got liberated. If I was there on the dias would have slapped him.” His comment was replied sharply by Shivasena and mixed reaction from public and led to protest in Maharashtra.

As delivered an insulting comment against Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, the Nasik Block of Shivasena had filed a complaint with Cyber Police. The police had got filed IPC cases under section 500, 505 (2) and 153-B (1) (C) and framed a FIR against Rane.
