‘Immoral Policing’ which seen much in coastal districts Mangaluru and Udupi was also witnessed in border district Belagavi where a few fundamentalists belonging to a religion beat boy and a girl belonged to different religions.

A girl wore ‘Burka’ and a boy ‘Tilak’ on the forehead arrived to Belagavi Central Bus stand and hired an auto rickshaw and asked the driver to drop them to a good public park.

Instead taking them to a park, he took them to an isolated place in Amman nagar, called a few of his religion and beat both of them.

The girl was from Sankeshwar and the boy from Chinchali in Raibag taluk and both had come to Belagavi to meet. In their complaint to Malmaruti police, the girl said her name as Shakira and boy as Rahul Raju Gorav from Chinchali. They added that the attackers got snatched cash of Rs 50,000 and a cellphone worth Rs 20,000. Police are in search of the accused.
