Belagavi Rural Congress MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar on Saturday pacified Hindu and Muslims by holding a joint meeting at Ranakunde village which witnessed a clash between both the religions over construction of a temple.
Laxmi who held a meeting of both the religions appealed them not to lend ears to those who want to get politically benefitted with such incident. She suspected a few antisocial elements behind the act in the village which never witnessed such before.
She donated cash of Rs 50,000 ( Rs 30,000 for mahaprasad and Rs 20,000 for renovation) to the Huda temple committee. The committee demolished the temple as it was old and about to collapse and started constructing the new one at the same place, in the mid of this week.
A few people said to be outsiders and other religion rushed at the night and demolished under constructed work arguing that the worshiping place near the temple would be disturbed with the temple. It led to clash between both the community in which four were injured.
