Belagavi : Bishop of Belagavi Diocese Derek Fernandes urged the Karnataka government to drop its plan of brining Anti-Conversion Bill as there a few such prohibition were already existing in the state and there was no need of bring the fresh Bill.
At a news conference here on Saturday, he said there are many acts in Constitution of the nation and in Indian Panel Code to prevent such activities and no need of a new one as the new Bill could be misutilised in feature.
The Catholic Pontiff said if the Bill was existed, there are possibilities of attacking on their mass, prayer services where many devotees gather, in the name of religious convention.
The Christians are also the good citizens of the nation, their right of living liberally in the nation should not be snatched and government must give them protection.
He also urged the government to take back its order of conducting the survey of churches, priests, pastors, nuns etc. Don’t know why the survey to be conducted, but it would snatch their freedom and lead them to live fearfully. The Bishop said Christianity never neither do nor entertain, allow forceful conversion and the allegation which reached to high nowadays are false, baseless and made with evil intention.
