Though his party has not yet announced the first candidate for the Legislative Council from urban local bodies from Belagavi district, Arabhavi BJP MLA said Government Chief Whip at Karnataka Legislative Council Mahantesh Kavatagimath will be the first candidate for a seat and he has urged the party leaders to consider his younger brother Lakhan for the second seat.
At a party meeting held at Suppliers’ Auditorium at Gokak town on Saturday he expressed confidence of winning both the seats. Lakhan was unsuccessffuly contested against his elder brother Ramesh Jarkiholi from Congress in the last general election to assembly, later joined BJP.
Balachandra Jarkiholi who is the president of Karnataka Milk Federation known as KMF said Lakhan’s contribution in winning BJP in last by-polls to Loksabha from Belagavi was remarkable, the party will win both the seats if fielded the latter.
