Though not yet announced about the candidature, KPCC Working President Satish Jarkiholi said Belagavi Rural MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar’s brother Channaraj Hattiholli will be the candidate and has expressed confidence about his victory as the party has sufficient votes to win the seat.

Speaking to news persons at his home town Gokak on Thursday, he said BJP worker Lakhan Jarkiholi’s contest as an independent candidate could snatch few votes from both Congress and BJP but would not effect on the result of the party candidate.

Yamakanamaradi MLA Satish Jarkiholi who was the MLC from the same local bodies said a meeting of the panchayat members have been conducted in his assembly constituency and will be conducted in other constituencies too.

Election to two seats for Legislator Council will be held from the local elected bodies from the district on Dec 10 with the completion of the term of Congress candidate Vivekrao Patil and BJP’s Mahantesh Kavatagimath whose term end next month. BJP continue Kavatagimath for the third successive term while Congress to replace Hattiholli on Patil.
