The government has asked the district administration to report it sbout the death of three children died at the district hospital on last Friday and Saturday.
Health Minister Dr Sudhakar has ordered to suspend pharmacist and the ANM nurse of the Primary Health Center of Saalahalli in Ramdurg taluk. District Medical Officer Dr Shashikant Munyal is conducting the inquiry.
Minister Sudhakar who is a doctor by profession suspected that the babies might have died due to the septic short syndrome.
Three among the 17 babies immunised with Rubella Vaccine at Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Saalahalli in Ramdurga taluk died at Belagavi district hospital between Saturday night to Sunday morning.
The health of the babies turned to serious a few minutes after immunising the vaccine and the staff at the PHC immediately shifted the babies to the district hospital.
The deceased babies have been known as Pavitra Hulagur, 13-months, Madhu son of Umesh Karaguddi, 14-months, both from Bochabal village and Chetan, 15-months, from Mallapur village. Another baby is serious.
The Rubella Vaccine is a live attenuated vaccine. It is available either by itself or in combination with other vaccines. Combinations include with measles (MR vaccine), measles and mumps vaccine (MMR vaccine) and measles, mumps and varicella vaccine (MMRV vaccine).
