The Belagavi Karnataka Control of Organised Crime ( KCOCA) Court, on Monday sentenced Life Imprisonment to Notorious Underworld person Bannanje Raja and Eight others in connection with Ankola based businessman NR Nayak and his gunman murder case. The verdict is the first ever in KCOCA Court case in the state.
KCOCA Court Judge CN Joshi who is also the Principal District and Sessions Court, Belagavi delivered the verdict of sensetional murder case. Nayak and his gunman shot dead at Ankola 9 year ago.
Nayak involved in exporting ironore from Ballari to countries like Japan, China was shot dead in his home taluk in Karwar district nine year ago. A gang armed with sophisticated weapons, shot at Nayak when he was returning home after morning walk, in his car. Mangaluru based notorious gangster Bannanje Raja was reportedly behind the killing of Nayak.
Nayak was killed as could not pay the hafta of Rs 3 crore to Bannanje Raja. The henchmen of Raja were the sharp shooters from Mumbai underworld.
Bannanje Raja and his henchmen who have been lodged at Hindalaga jail at Belagavi would be brought to the jail before lunch session.
Nayak was killed nine year ago and the KCOCA Court heared the hearing for seven years. Nayak’s murder case verdict was the first ever in KCOC Act in the state.
