Belagavi : Belagavi Civil Work contractor Santosh Patil who has done 108 petty works costing Rs 4.67 crore in Hindalaga Gram Panchayat limits had neither got the work order from the Public Works Department nor did not obtained permission from the Hindalaga Gram Panchayat.
Speaking to news persons, after attending to the inquiry of Udupi police about the death of Santosh Patil said, Santosh Patil had told the Panchayat members that there would be no need of permission from the department and the decision of the Panchayat and both could not be needed to the works to be done under the RDPR funds.
He said Santosh Patil who was said to be approved orally 108 petty works from Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister KS Eshwarappa had allotted the works to 12 sub contractors. Santosh Patil has done the works of just Rs 50 lakh and allocated rest works to sub contractors.
Mannolkar clarified that none among the 12 sub contractors forced Santosh for the payment of the work done bills. He said twice they all met Eshwarappa on the matter.
