Citing personal reasons, ADGP of Railway department Bhaskar Rao has applied for voluntary retirement. Rao who has three years left to go in service has sent letters in this regard to the government Chief Secretary, DG and IGP.

Bhaskhar Rao, according to sources close to him, is expected to join politics and contest the state assembly election from Basavanagudi constituency at Bengaluru.

Bhaskhar Rao was IGP of northern range at Belagavi.
