Approved to convert the Agriculture Land into Non-agricultureal situated in the center place of the city, the Belagavi Deputy Commissioner, Tahasildar and the Belagavi Urban Development Authority (BUDA) have landed in trouble as criminal cases have been filed against them with the police related to private Vegetable Market that functioning since a few year.

The private vegetable market came up adjoining to Pune Bengaluru national highway at New Gandhi nagar streatched in 8 acre 34 gunta land was allegedly converted into non agricultural purposes by the current officer bearers of Jai Kisaan Vegetable Market Association by forging the signature.

Farmer leader Siddagouda Modagi who noticed the cheating in converiting land filed a petition with Karnataka High Court Circuit Bench at Dharwad pleading that the market vegetable association has ‘ misled’ the government officials by forged the signature of the owner of the land.

Modagi said that land owner Basalingappa Bhavi died on Nov 21, 2011, however, the association forged his signature and appealed the for the agriculture land into non agriculture to BUDA, Tahasildar and Deputy Commissioner on June 26, 2015.

The officials by signing had approved for the land conversation. Modagi said the documents that affixed to the land conversion application were fake.

As per the order of the court, the Malmaruti Police have got filed cases against the then officials and the office bearers of the vegetable market.
