Two-year-old Sharad who fell in the uncapped borewell at Alakhanur village in Raibag taluk on Friday found dead on Sunday.

The borewell he fell was uncapped. Owner of the borewell Halappa left it uncovered as he could not water. The boy was stuck into about 15 feet down.

The firefighter squad and NDRF teams attempted to rescue the baby by using JCBs, earth-moving machines.

It was such a second incident in the district as a girl by the name Kaveri fell into uncovered borewell at Athani taluk. She was left in the bore as the machines could not reach the girls even after 2-3 days regular attempt as a boulder came between. The girl was declared dead as there was smell coming out on.

The government had warned of filing criminal case against the person who dug and the agency which dug if left uncovered to the failed borewell.

The borewell in which Sharad had fell was dug six month ago.
