To avoid patients to go Bengaluru and other metropolitan cities for cancer treatment, the government will start a cancer hospital and research center in Belagavi.
The hospital is the branch of “Kidvai Oncology Hospital” in Bengaluru. The hospital will come up on four-acre of land in the Belagavi South Assembly constituency at an estimated cost of Rs 130 crore. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will lay the foundation stone to construct the hospital building in May.
Kidvai Cancer Society Director Dr. C Ramachandrappa said that the government has proposed to have at least one cancer hospital in every district. The cancer hospitals in Tumakuru, Shivamogga, and Mysuru will come up along with the hospital at Belagavi.
The hospitals will be of 100-beds with every treatment for the disease and it will also have a research center, he said.
