The government hospitals in Belagavi district are running acute shortage of COVID Vaccines as the hospitals were supplied less than 10pc vaccine to the demanded slaught.The district hospital demanded 1 lakh, however, was supplied only 8,000 doses. It was said that the other hospitals were issued less than 5pc doses to its demands.As the hospital running under Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) was also not informed about supplying of vaccine for which it not dared to inform people when to come for vaccination. “People everyday coming and standing in queue and going back due to non availability of vaccine, we are helpless,” said a doctor.
The hospital is vaccinating first and second doses only to those above 45 year of age and not to others arrived to get the first dose. “Government must clarify about issuing the vaccine so that the hospital can inform people who can come on their days and vaccinated”, the hospital authority said.
