A Vijayotsava is celebrated all over the state as an indication of the 1st victory over the draconian rule of the British Empire by the Brave Kitturu RanI Chennamma. The same way the event was organized in Belagavi as well.
On the date 23rd October of 1824 the Chennamma dismantled the head of the British officer Thackeray that tried occupancy of the Kitturu Fort. As a remembrance of this victory every year Vijayotsava is celebrated on the same date.
Friday on behalf of this victory the various organizations including the Kannada and Cultural dept. had organized the event at the Dr. Basavaraj Kattimani conference hall of the Kumara Gandharva Theater. The dignitaries that were present by the time paid floral respects to the portrait of the Chennamma and oblations of the Chennamma.
