Bengaluru. Feb 27.The State government has decided to develop Keladi and surrounding areas, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.
The Chief Minister in his address after paying floral tributes to the portrait of Keladi Rani Chennamma as part of the 350th anniversary of her Coronation said, State government has decided to celebrate the Coronation Day of Keladi Rani Chennamma. It will be celebrated in a big way at Keladi next year.
Keladi Chennamma was a brave woman. Karnataka could achieve a bright future by identifying such brave women, Bommai said.
Chennamma had a progressive mind
Karnataka has its own Culture, language, lifestyle, economic, social and spiritual dynamism. The integration of all these makes Karnataka. Keladi Chennamma has played a big role in this. She exhibited a progressive thinking and firm resolve in that era. She was far sighted, it is rare for a person to forgive and provide shelter to the enemies who threatened her existence and attacked her thrice. Like Kittrur Chennamma, the valour of Keladi Chennamma too is exciting. Our children need to be taught about her in their school text books, Bommai said.
Referring to Tungabhadra Aarathi programme drawn up by Panchamasali Sri Vachanananda Jagadguru on the lines of Ganga Aarathi, Bommai said, following the initiative we are receiving requests from people on the banks of all the rivers to have similar programmes, Bommai said.
