Candidates who contested the election unsuccessfully to Belagavi civic body have urged the Election Commission to cancel the election conducted as many election norms were not maintained.

Most of the defeated candidates submitted memorandum to DC MG Hiremath who was the Election Officer to the civic body election that re-election must be conducted as there were many objectionable things like VVPATS were not afixed to the EVMs, EVMs might have fabricated to help BJP, there were many malpractice occurred in the election.

The candidates also decided to approach Karnataka High Court at Dharwad to get cancelled the election.
