The Delhi government on Tuesday, Aug 3, gave a happy news to its Delhi MLAs as it hiked their overall salary to ₹ 90,000 from ₹ 54,000 per month. Though given a bumper gift, the hiked salary was less to their counterparts, mainly from BJP and Congress ruling state.
The overall salary was not hiked since ten years and a proposal was pending before Union government since five years which was now approved and allowed the Delhi government to revise the salary of the legislstors.
The Aam Adhmi Party CM Aravind Kejriwal whose cabinet passed the proposal of the Union government said in a media release that the Delhi MLAs, beside other package of allowance gets hiked salary of ₹ 30,000 per month which is less in the nation.
The MLAs since ten year used to get ₹ 54,000 per month including Basic Salary of ₹ 12,000, now the Basic Salary hiked to ₹ 30,000, ₹ 25,000 MLA area allowance, ₹ 15,000 secretariat allowance, ₹ 10,000 travelling and telephone allowance, apart from few other petty allowance.
The capital of the nation has turned to costliest cities, the legislstors used to pull their families in their limited salary, the government had asked the MHA to hike their salary equal to their other counterparts of the nation who are being paid salary upto ₹ 1.5, lakh per month.
