A 9th standard boy student from GV Joshi Rotary School at Adarsh nagar in Hubballi tested positive of COVID-19 for which the school was sanitised and shutdown from Wednesday. The students’ sister who is a student of SDM Medical College at Dharwad is also tested positive of the virus which striked last week.

The boy was detected infected when his entire family was cheacked after his sister was found positive.

The matter created panic among the parents who rushed school and took their children to covid testing labs and hospitals.

The boy who was said to be suffering with covid symptoms whose swabs were sent to test on Tuesday. He has been quarantined at his home.

School Principal Naresh Patil said all the students were sent to their home soon after knowing the test report of the boy. Entire campus was sanitised and declared holiday till Monday.

A total 281 students and hospital staff of the SDM Medical college at Dharwad were found positive when they all gathered for welcoming programme to the first year students of the college on last Nov 17.
