Important points from the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Covid situation on 21-1-22.

*According to the data as on January 20, there are 2,93,231 active cases in the state of which 2.86 lakh are in home isolation.

*5344 infected have been hospitalised of which 340 are in ICU and 127 on ventilator.

*Apart from Bengaluru, high cases are being reported from Mysuru, Tumakuru, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

*The positivity rate is at 19.94%.

*The positivity rate for children is 8% and it is 16.57% for adults.

*Vigil is being maintained on hospitalisation of children.

*Of the 243 PSA plants sanctioned for the state 225 have started functioning.

*PSA plants have started functioning in all districts and 113 taluk hospitals.

*The average case doubling rate in the state is 3 days and each infected is spreading to 2.6 persons.

*Medical and paramedical staff are increasingly getting infected.

*Extra vigil is being maintained on Covid cases in not only Bengaluru, but in other districts too.

*Though weekend curfew has been imposed, it has not been very effective. While the number of cases is on the rise, the number of those getting admitted into hospitals has remained low at 5-6%. The recovery rate is high.

*However the experts have opined that the cases are likely to hit the peak next week.

*Rising infection among Covid frontline workers has been taken note of.

*The meeting discussed aspects of both life and livelihood.

Taking into account all the aspects the following decisions have been taken

*The night curfew from 10pm to 5am would be in force for all 7 days of the week.

*Based on public demand and opinion of the experts it has been decided to withdraw the weekend curfew for now. However, depending on the hospitalisation trend next week a suitable decision would be taken at a meeting on whether to reimpose the restrictions.

*Therefore it is essential for the general public to conduct responsibly and follow the Covid guidelines.

*It has been decided to open Malls, Hotels, Bars, Clubs and Pubs with 50% capacity and mandatory double vaccination of patrons.
