Former Mayor Shivaji Sunthakar has been expelled from BJP for six year for fielding his wife Sulochana as an independent candidate to the election to Belagavi City Corporation from ward number 47 against the party candidate.

Party City president Shashikant Patil expelled him as he refused to take his wife’s candidature back.Sunthakar was with MES before joining BJP. The party also expelled party worker Suresh Yadav contesting as an independent candidate from ward number 46.

The party had expelled 7 workers of the party who contesting in the election.
