Haveri, (Shiggaon), April.19 “You groomed me and you only must save me. I will be at your service till the last breath of my life. If I die, my mortal remains must be laid to rest in Shiggaon. I want to give back to what all given to me by the soil of Shiggaon”, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Addressing a convention before filing his nomination papers here on Wednesday, he said the people of this constituency have been supporting him for the last 15 years and no power can come in between them. He was indebted to the love and affection showered by you on him. “Today, I will pledge that I will serve you till last breath”.

The CM said the development of Shiggaon-Savanur was his dream. When he came here in 2008, there were no roads and crates were in the middle of the roads. Drinking water was in scarce and the women folk were standing on the road with the pots on their heads. There was no good office building and none was there to respond to people’s travails. From then onwards development began and today over 100 tanks are filled with two lift irrigation schemes. Nearly 2,000 km of rural roads have been built to connect villages to fields and to state and national highways. Over 10,000 houses have been constructed in the last 15 years. A record 12,000 new houses have been provided to those who lose their shelter due to floods and it is a record. Poverty is not a curse. By birth, somebody may be poor but he need not be in the same condition till death. Opportunities have been provided for people to work honestly and lead independent life.

Bommai said 6,000 houses have been constructed in Shiggaon, Savanur, and Bankapur and all the towns have been developed completely. The work of providing individual drinking water connections to every house in every village has been going on on behalf of the state and union governments. Tap water has been provided to every house under the Jal Jeevan mission scheme under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President J.P.Nadda

He said the BJP State unit is well-organized under the leadership of Nadda and the BJP will win more than 125 seats in the coming election. The people of Karnataka will bless the party. The people know what all he had done for the welfare of farmers, youth, working classes, youths, and girl students. “Some people spread the canard that he will go away from the Shiggaon constituency. I am not the CM to run away. Everything must be decided in front of the people. You are my boss. Rumors were spread that I will go to Davangere and who told me this? I have served the state and the people and I am confident that people will bless us”.

The CM said an ayurvedic hospital in Shiggaon, a 250-bed hospital in Savanur, GTTC and Engineering college, textile park to provide 10,000 jobs have been provided. There is a demand to make Bankapur a taluk and I cannot announce it due to the election code of conduct. That demand will be fulfilled in the coming days.

The BJP National President J.P.Nadda, Ministers, Govind Karjol, C.C.Patil, Murgesh Niranin, B.C.Patil and others were present.
