Kannada Activist Gives Oct 25 Deadline Govt to Hoist Kannada Flag Atop Govt Offices

Belagavi : Kannada activist Bhimappa Gadad has urged to government to ensure hoisting the Kannada flag atop all the government offices before Oct 25, else he with Kannada organisations would hold in definite protest in front of Belagavi Deputy Commissioner office from Oct 26.

In a letter to CM Basavaraj Bommai and Principal Secretary to Karnataka government, Gadad said government must pass a Bill to give constitutional nod gor the existing Kannada flag as “State Flag” and hoist it everyday in front of the government offices, without any disrespect to the National Flag.

Gadad who was the man in removing controversial “Yellur, Maharashtra Rajya” name board at the entrance of Yellur village said he was going through the official procedure to hoist the Kannada flag on the government offices since 2014, however, not got any positive response, therefore he said he has given a deadline to government in this regard. He said there was a clause that states can have its separate flags which could be hoist along with National flag without any disrespect to it.
