Maharashtra Releases 10,000 Cusec Water to Krishna River from Koyna Reservoir

Maharashtra, to maintain water level in its major reservoir Koyna in Satara district has released 10,000 cusecs water to Krishna river at around 2pm on Monday. The water is expected to reach Karnataka border on Tuesday afternoon.

Water level as recorded at 8am today was 103tmcft against its capacity of 105tmcft. Water was released to the river as the western part of the state was getting incessant rains since a few days and would continue for 4-5 days. Koyna vicinity registered 57mm rains on Sunday.

Though there was no threat of floods, the water level of the river in Karnataka may increase.
