Following election to two seats for Legislative Council from local bodies from Belagavi district, DC MG Hiremath has been transferred. R Venkatesh will be the new DC.

It was the practice of the Election Commission to transfer the chief administrators to other districts during election and take back to the post after the election. DC Hiremath was transferred also during last by-polls to Loksabha from Belagavi constituency.
