People’s Entry Ban into Karwar Beaches

As there was a rapid rise in the cases of drowning in the beaches of the district, the Karwar district administration has banned people from entering the sea for one month from Sept 14. The prohibitory order was imposed under IPC section 144.

The prohibitory order is in force at Om beach, Kawoudly, Half and main beach in Gokarna taluk, Aghanasini, Gudeangadi, Kagal and Dhareshwar beaches in Kumata taluk. No one is allowed to enter the beach without permission.

There were a few cases were tourists drowned who entered into the sea and a tourist has washed away while taking a mobile selfie. In spite of advice from Life Guards, many tourists entered into the sea and drowned.

The district administration has categorized the beaches into safe and dangerous, but the prohibition is applicable to all the beaches for one month.
