Protests Marks ‘Bharat Bandh’ in Belagavi Channamma circle

Belagavi : Monday’s ‘Bharat Bandh’ in Belagavi was restricted to the protests in Belagavi district. The famers’ and a few Kannada organisations protested on Rani Channamma circle while Congress at Vehicle Toll Plaza at Hire Bagewadi. There were reports of protests from farners in the head quarters of the taluks.

The farmers’ organisations called ‘Bharat Bandh’ on Monday for a year completed for the ongoing protest of Panjab and Haryana farmers at Singu at Delhi border, demanding to rollback the new farm policy bill tabled by the central government.

In the morning a few farmer and Kannada organisations set afire to a tyre of the vehicle in front of central bus stand, the transport corporation had stopped the buses for sometime and resumed afte the protesters left.

There was a verbal clash between farmers, Kannada activists and police over blocking the traffic in Rani Channamma circle. Hundreds of protesters shouted slogans against the central government for the farm bills which are against the interest of the farmers. They also condemned the central government’s bill and its negligence toward the farmers protest at Singu.
