he Home Department on Monday suspended four police personnel attached to Sindagi police station in connection with suspected death of a rape accused.

Vijayapur SP Anantkumar suspended PSI Sangamesh Hosamani and constables BN Nad, Gururaj Mashyal and Anant Patil and another on charges of their alleged negligence toward the duty.

An accused of raping a minor girl who was in police custody found dead hanging at the toilet of the Sindagi police station in Vijayapur district on Sunday. His neck was seen tied with the bottom of the pant while the other bottom was to the window grill of the toilet at the station.

The accused was facing charges of raping a 13-year-old girl and was arrested bases on the complaint of the victim’s parents. The victim’s father was a worker at the Dhabha and was staying there with his daughter. He alleged that Dhabha owner Devendra raped his daughter and had complained against him to the police.
