Tribal Woman Fought, Got Back Son from the Jaws of Leopard

Madya Pradesh : A tribal woman from Madya Pradesh proved again that mothers even give and put their lives to risk to protect their children as she chased a leopard just with a stick for about a kilometer and got snatched her son from the jaws of the deadly animal.

The incident has come to light from Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh where the mother fought with the dreaded leopard to save the life of her son.

At around 7 pm on Sunday, Kiran Baiga was sitting with her children by lighting a bonfire near the house to protect them from the cold. A child was in her lap. The other two were sitting side by side. At the same time suddenly a wild leopard came from behind and pressed her eight-year-old son in his mouth and ran away in the forest.

When she saw the animal she ran after it screaming. She kept running after the leopard amidst the darkness spread in the forest. After walking for about a kilometer, the leopard stopped at one place and sat down holding the child with its claws. The mother took the courage to free the child from his paw and started making noise.

The leopard also not gave up easily. He pounced again to snatch the child, but the mother kept him tightly wrapped in her arms. When the leopard swooped in, the mother grabbed his paw and pushed him hard. In the meantime, the people of the village also reached there and the leopard ran away from there towards the forest. The woman told that after this she fainted. She was in the hospital when she opened her eyes.

Eight-year-old son Rahul has suffered serious injuries to his cheek, back and left eye in the incident, but the courage of his mother saved his life.

On getting information about the incident, the team of Forest Department Tamsar brought the injured child to the Community Health Center Kusmi in the night itself where he is undergoing treatment.
