KLS Gogte Institute of Technology, Belagavi in association with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi has organized a Two day workshop on NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY-2020 for VTU BoS & BoE Chairman and members on 19th and 20th November 2021 in the Silver Jubilee Auditorium of KLS Gogte Institute of Technology, Belagavi.
Dr. Karisiddappa, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, VTU, Belagavi was the Chief Guest for the function. Dr. A. S. Deshpande, Registrar VTU and Dr. B. E. Rangaswamy, Registrar (Evaluation) VTU, were the Guests of Honour. Shri. Rajendra Belagaumkar Member GC, KLS GIT was the president for the function.
Addressing the gathering during the inaugural function, Chief Guest, Dr. Karisiddappa- Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor-VTU said that the entire country is geared for educational transformation with the initiation of NEP-2020 policy. He said that the transformational policy shall restructure the entire education system to produce graduates and post graduates not only with technical and managerial competencies, but with high integrity and ethical values that shall help in nation building. Further he added that NEP 2020 policy shall restructure the regulatory systems of education and also the internal governance systems. He expressed the need to build the youth to ensure professionals with right character, commitment and ethics that can contribute to global welfare. He said that the academicians and teachers are crucial elements for implementation of NEP 2020. The need for learning by doing, seeing and reading is going to be the key elements for successful implementation of policy.
Guest of Honor, Dr. A.S Deshpande, Registrar, VTU said that NEP 2020 is focusing of building quality education systems. He added that the policy shall ensure building the right mindset and imparting ethnocentric values amongst students to build a strong Nation. Further, he said that that Universities across shall be divided majorly based on the priorities given to teaching, research and experiential learning. Teacher’s recruitment, career planning and societal considerations shall gain value with the implementation of the policy. “Light but Tight” is the quote underlying the NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY -2020 he said.
Guest of Honor, Dr. B. E. Rangaswamy, Registrar (Evaluation) VTU spoke on Incorporating NEP into evaluation system and discussed several reform measures to improve the grading systems currently followed. He said that the policy shall focus on skill development along with improving technical competencies with the syllabus catering to Industrial needs and market requirements. Also he added that the assessments systems would change from summative to formative.
Shri. Rajendra Belagaumkar, Member GC- KLS GIT & Chairman GC-KLS VDIT in his Presidential remarks applauded the efforts taken by VTU in implementation of NEP 2020 in all its affiliated institutes. He said that, evolution of student intake with respect to past has been demanding major changes in the educational arena and NEP 2020 shall ensure those required changes.
Dr. Jayant K. Kittur, Principal KLS GIT welcomed the Guests and said that the deliberations during the two days of the workshop shall help all the Chairpersons, Board of studies and Board of examiners of VTU to understand NEP 2020 much better. Dr. Sanjeev S Ingalagi, Faculty, Dept. of MBA introduced the guests. Dr. Krishna Shekhar Lal Das, Dean Dept. of MBA Proposed the Vote of Thanks. Dr. Vani R Hundekar Faculty Dept. of MBA compeered the program. Dr. Rajendra Inamdar, Faculty, Dept. of MBA coordinated the event.
