Two young sisters from Sambra in Belagavi taluk who had gone to discharge the pooja things at a lake in the village were drowned and their elder sister rescued. The incident occurred at around 3pm on Sunday.

Netra Kolavi, 8 and Priya Kolavi, 6 were the deceased drowned in the lake. They along with their elder sister had gone to Mahadev lake to discharge the pooja things when accidentally fell and drowned.

Hailing from Yaddalagud in Gokak taluk, their father Iranna Kolavi, a solder had left back to his posting at Karwar recently and their mother had gone to her native Konnur village in Gokak taluk.
