‘Zero Traffic’ to Shashikala, Court Issues Notice to Govt

The Karnataka High Court has served notice to Karnataka government for arranging ‘Zero Traffic’ for Minister Shashikala Jolley helping her to reach the Raj Bhavan to take an oath as a minister.

Chief Justice of the HC AS Oak served the notice after taking to board the petition filed by G Balaji Naidu from Ramamurthy nagar at Bengaluru, to Principal Secretary of the government, Director General of Police and Police Commissioner of Bengaluru asking how could you allowed for ‘Zero Traffic’ to Shashikala.

Naidu in his petition has stated that “Shashikala was given the ‘Zero Traffic’ facility when she was just a legislator, which should be not. People suffered a lot with the heavy traffic jam on Aug 4, 2021. The ‘Zero Traffic’ facility given created harm to the social equality.”

The government, had organised oath taking ceremony to the new ministers at Rajbhavan at 2.15pm on Aug 4. MLA Shashikala after getting confirmed a berth in the cabinet left Delhi and reached Kempegowda airport at Bengaluru at around 2pm. To reach her the venue in time, she was provided ‘Zero Traffic’, she reached and took oath at the ceremony.
