Only beautiful minds express gratitude to the benefit they get, one has to thankful to those who helped in the need. Saikhom Meerabai Channu who won a silver medal in 49kg weightlifting Tokyo Olympic is one among such having a loving heart.

Staying in a village away from about 25km away from her coaching center at Impala, Meerabai hailing from poor family did not had vehicle to reach the venue, but used walk till the roads, show hands to the vehicles moving toward her coaching center and managed to reach the venue.

As it was her routine practice very soon she known to every regular movers on that road. The truck drivers helped her a lot in reaching the center, sometime they used to wait her for her coming and drop her. Almost all the truck drivers who dropped her never took money from her, instead felt themselves lucky for carrying such a sports person in their vehicles. They felt proud when she told them that she would represent the nation and wished her success heartily.

Keeping the gratitude, Meerabai after winning the silver medal contacted all the drivers who are about 150, invited to her house as village had lunch with them and gifted them all to express her thanks offering.

Addressing her guests – the truck drivers – Meerabai got emotion while recalling how the drivers behaved, helped her in her tough days. ” Myself and my family members were worried about my reaching to the coaching center which was far away from my house. However, the truck drivers as brothers helped me to reach the place and their blessings when I was leaving to Tokyo Olympic. They helped me a lot in my tough days”, she said.

As her gratitude, Meerabai presented the gift to every driver and also sent the same those did not present.

Meerabai’s honour to the truck drivers is being trending widely in the social media and blogs hailing the weightlifter.
