After coronavirus outbreak at SDM Medical College at Dharwad, the virus also infected 34 students of an international school in Whitefield at Bengaluru.
Bengaluru Urban Depity Commissioner Manjunath J said 33 students and one staffer have been found positive at The International School. The staff had taken two doses of vaccination.
The case was first reported when two children from Nagpur complained of fever and Covid-19 like symptoms,” said Manjunath. They were tested and found to be infected. Since it is a boarding school, all students and staff have been tested.
There are 297 students and 200 staff members and all of them have been tested. We are awaiting results of 174 tests,” he added. The students are in high school and higher secondary grades. A 24×7 taluk health officer and institution medical officer are attending to the patients.
The school shifting back to online schooling from Monday. “Students have been sent back. There are some foreign students left who will also travel back to their homes soon. We will switch to online classes,” said a senior management member. He, however, said 18 students have tested positive.
Indus International School had two students, who are siblings, testing positive recently. It was closed for four days and will reopen on Monday for offline classes.
