A protest took place at Hukkeri to take action as not to interrupt the broadcast of Mahanayaka Serial and to accomplish other recruitments by the Dr. B R Ambedkar Janajagruti stage.

Raghavendra Hunsur the director of Mahanayaka serial being broadcasted in a private channel depicting the life story of Dr. B R Ambedkar is frequently receiving threatening by phone calls to stop the broadcasting. Condemning this the members of Dr. B R Ambedkar Janajagruti stage led by its president Umesh Bhimgol took out a protest rally from court circle till the Mini Vidhanasoudha and submitted a memo to the govt. through the Tahshildar Ashok Gurani.

Speaking by the time advocate Anand Kelagade said, the life story of the great leader should have been broadcasted by the central govt. itself in the Doordarshan but now it is being broadcasted by a private channel but the chief of the channel is receiving threatening in this regard the security should be provided to Raghavendra Hunsur and the govt. should look up as the broadcast must not get interrupted at any cost.

The members of the Dr. B R Ambedkar Janajagruti Stage spoke by the time and requested to provide better basic facilities to the areas where the Dalit community is residing in Hukkeri. They requested to allot lands to them under Akram Sakram Schemes and a cemetery. The leaders said if their requirements won’t get fulfilled then they may protest blocking the national highway in the upcoming days.
