In connection with the arrest of BJP MLA Maadal Virupakshappa’s son by the Lokayukta, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai promised an impartial inquiry and those who have committed mistake must be punished. This is the stand of the government.

Talking to reporters here on Friday, he said the incumbent government re-established the Lokayukta to check corruption. In the absence of the anti-corruption institution such so many incidents had taken place during the Congress regime and also hushed up.

Reiterating that there will be an impartial inquiry, the CM said the Lokayukta is an autonomous institution and it will enquire on the basis of money found as well as the pieces of experience. Everything must come out even to whom the money belonged to so that it must be known to everyone. Those who have done the mistake will be punished.

Ruling out hushing of the incident, Bommai said the Congress minister.s and MLAs had 59 charges but it was hushed ae there was ACB. Once that is enquired by the Lokayukta, truth will come out. This is the evidence of the closure of the Lokayukta by the previous Congress Government. The former minister KJ George favours continuing the ACB and this will show who is in favour of corruption. The Congress party cannot claim itself as the clean party as they had done in the past. Cases have been registered against the Congress ministers in the past. Now everything is being enquired by Lokayukta

Probe of excise, labour departments scams

The CM, replying to KPCC President D.K.Shivakumar on the scams in the Excise and the Labour departments, said even that will also be investigated by the Lokayukta.
