Though younger brother of Jarkiholi family Lakhan was in his party and contested as an independent candidate in the Legislative Council election from Belagavi local bodies, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai described him as the “Member of Congress B Team”.

Speaking to news persons at his house at Hubballi in Tuesday expressed confidence of retaining Mahantesh Kavatagimath the government chief whip in Legislator Council who contested for the third term.

The chief minister’s comment on Lakhan seemed he was not confident of retaining the post of Kavatagimath and it could be the sign of removing the latter from the party if he lost in the election and accept him to the party if he win.
