History has been made and India proud for Neeraj chopra who have given outstanding performance in javelin throw, final with a best throw of 87.58m to win India’s second individual gold in the Olympics on Saturday.
Chopra had fuelled the country’s expectations by topping the qualification round with a stunning first-round throw of 86.59m and he lived upto his name as he seized the lead after reaching the 87.03 mark with his first attempt winning India’s first gold of the Tokyo Games, as his overjoyed teammates and coaches watched from the stands.
Neeraj was a picture of confidence throughout the javelin final as his monstrous throw in the second round proved too good for other javelin throwers. His biggest rival, Johannes Vetter, was out in the first round of the finals. Neeraj had revealed how the love and expectation from fans were a source of motivation for him and not added pressure.
