Disappointed over the instructions to stop playing DJ music at night, the people in the procession of Basaveshwar Jayanti hurdled stones on police patrolling jeep on Tuesday.

To celebrate the birth anniversary of Basaveshwar, Lingayat community had organised a procession at Hirekudi village in Chikkodi taluk on Tuesday evening where the participants were dancing to the tunes of high volume of DJ sound system. Police, at 11pm instructed not to play the DJ music, which led for arguments. Soon after stones were hurdled on the police jeep breaking its glass windshields.

The Chikkodi police have registered a case over the matter.
