The sugarcane pounding program was initiated at the Ugar Sugars that was established in the pre independent era at Ugar of Kagwad Taluk. The president and the conveners of the factory gave start to the program by worshipping the machines.

Speaking by the time the executives of the factory Chandan Shirgaonkar and Sohan Shirgaonkar said they are aiming to pound nearly 21 Lakh Ton this year and appealed all the workers and the farmers to support. When asked of the rate they said the price that has been decided by the Govt. will be given.
