An 85 year old man has been arrested on Monday in Odisha’s Kendrapara Dist. for allegedly raping a five year old girl.

The accused is said to be Sunakar Patra that runs a grocery shop in the village. The inspector of Aul Police Station said the accuser allegedly raped the child on Sunday evening after luring her to come inside the shop with chocolates. Sunakar Patra was arrested after the girl’s parents lodged a police complaint and during the interrogation the accused confessed to the crime.

Patra has been booked under IPC sections 376 AB, 294, 341and 506. Besides, sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 were also slapped on him.

For now he is remanded to judicial custody for two weeks.
