An accused of raping a minor girl who was in police custody found dead hanging at the toilet of the Sindagi police station in Vijayapur district on Sunday.

The accused, police said committed suicide by using his pant to get himself hanged between late Saturday night to wee hours on Sunday. The bottom of the pant was tied to the iron grill of the window of the toilet while the other side of the bottom was seen tied to his neck.He was facing charges of raping a 13-year-old girl and was arrested on the complaint of the victim’s parents.While, the relatives of the deceased gheraoed the police station alleging that police were the cause for the death of their person.Additional police security provided to station.
