As two women from its village died due to consuming liquor, the villagers of Tuddur in Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district have decided to file a criminal case against the District Excise department.

It was decided in the “Grama Sabhe” meeting held on Thursday. Villagers said liquor was being sold in and around the Thirthahalli taluk which was not safe. Despite known, the excise department was blind with the matter. Utilising the silence of the department poisonous liquor was being sold for which two women, about 20 years died recently.

The meeting chaired by Gram Panchayat chairman Madhuraj Hegde decided to file the criminal case with the court to book the excise department for its alleged failure in curbing the illegally menace.
