: Khanapur based RTI activist Jayant Tinaikar who attacked recently by a gang was to his attempt to save the government land from illegal grabbers.
One Laxman Shetty had constructed a club illegally on the government land, at the outskirt of Khanapur. Tinaikar who noticed it was grabbed illegally had collected the land’s documents from the concerned departments under Right To Information (RTI) Act. This forced Shetty to attack on Tinaikar.
Shetty, according to police, had hired one Lokesh Kalaburgi for Rs 50 lakh and paid Rs 1.50 lakh as advance money. Kalburgi, gatheted a gang consisted of
Gangappa Gujanab and Bharma Dasanatti from Markandey Nagar, Sunil Divatagi and Manjunath Hosamani from Khanapur, Sachin Yarzarvi, from Tilakwadi, Eshwar Hubli from Anagol and Akhilesh Yadav from Udyambag who attacked Tinaikar near Zadshahapur on March 4 and fled.
Injured Tinaikar had lodged a complaint with Belagavi Rural police and disclosed the
