The crop loss, non payment of agriculture loan claimed yet another family in the state as a farmer ended life by hanging to a tree after knowing his wife who attempted suicide died at the hospital. The incident occurred at Aaladakatti village in Haveri taluk.
As could not come out from the farm debt and felt running family in very less income was not possible, 56-year-old Shankrappa Agadi’s wife 50-year-old Vaanishree and 21-year-old daughter Keerthi consumed poison to end their lives and were admitted to the KIMS hospital at Hubballi. Vaanishree breathed her last on Tuesday. Shankrappa, unable to bare the sorrow, went village and hanged to the tree. Daughter Keerthi is undergoing treatment at the KIMS.
Shankrappa, to settle financial debts, had sold his 1.5 acre agriculture field and left only 35 gunta land with him. He used to cultivate 8 acre land of others on yearly rent, crop basis. However, he could not got the crop due to various natural uncertainty pushed him into further debt which made his family to take the extreme step.
