Five members of a family including a 2-year-old child were killed when the auto rickshaw in which they were travelling was dashed by a Tipper Lorry at Nelamakanahalli in Malavalli taluk of Mandya district on Friday night.

Deceased have been identified as Muttamma, 45, her daughter Basamanni, 30, son Venkatesh, 25, Basamanni’s daughter Chamundeshwari, 8, and a 2-year-old son.

Muttamma’s family was returning home visiting a temple from Maddur, the tipper was moving on opposite direction. Muttamma and two others killed on the spot while two others breathed their last on the way to hospital.
