Four police personnel who were returning after handing over the dead body of a slain soldier to his family were killed when the vehicle they were travelling in collided head-on with s lorry near Palasa in Srikakulam district on National Highway No. 16in Andra Pradesh on Tuesday.

The deceased police have been identified as Sub Inspector J Krishnadu, Head Constables Y Baburao and T Anthony and Jeep Driver P Janardhan Rao.

The police were returning to their head quarters after submitting the dead body of a soldier to his family st Bhairi Sarangapuram in their district when the mishap occurred.

Andra Pradesh DGP D Gautam Savang the death of the personnel was a great loss to the department and added he has instructed Deputy Indpector General and Superintendent of Police of Srikakulam to submit him a report on the incident.
