Ahmedabad : In a shocking incident, a man from Gujarat sold his wife to a person of the same state for Rs 500. The man who purchased the woman took her to an isolated place and raped her. The police, on last Friday, with in 24 hours of the incident arrested both the woman’s husband and who purchased her.

The woman, 21, has been sent to a Sakhi Centre in Sikar. Police station in-charge Madanlal Kadvasra said that one of the accused has been identified as Sonu Sharma. The incident came to light when the woman approached the police and lodged a complaint.

The woman, who was married to a Mau resident, went to the Lucky Hotel at around 9 pm on Thursday. During this time, Sonu Sharma approached the woman’s husband and offered him Rs 500 in exchange for her. Her husband accepted the offer, took money and allegedly sold off his wife.
